About
Hey there! My name is Dawson (he/they) and I am an artist, activist, and educator from Montréal, Québec. I’m travelling around Canada with my partner, Cléo (she/they), and my dog, Disco. Until recently, I worked in animal welfare for almost a decade! I was a shelter worker, an animal welfare educator, and a veterinary assistant.
Cléo is a filmmaker from Tahiti. She grew up surrounded by lots of animals, but her true talent lies in plant care. She loves to read, cook, and spend time in nature. She always makes sure that the plants are watered and likes to keep the house clean and tidy.
Disco is a 4 year old pittie with a whole lot of love to give! She loves to explore new places, lay in the sun, and generally follow me everywhere I go. If we are house sitting for a longer period of time, we will introduce Disco into the home slowly using positive reenforcement techniques so all other animals feel comfortable coexisting!
I’ve cared from animals of all species, ages, and experiences! I began as a volunteer at the Montréal SPCA, caring for all types of animals in the shelter. I then became Coordinator of Education for ENGAGE: Animal Welfare Education, teaching youth and people in vulnerable situations about animal care and behaviour. Finally, I was an veterinary assistant at Clinique Vétérinaire du Plateau, helping with exams, medical procedures, and grooming.
Our little family is travelling around the country working on a documentary project. We’re looking for some sitting jobs to help make the cold months a bit more bearable by staying in a warm home with some furry friends. We spend most days with a mix of working at home and going on adventures or exploring the area.
